Fort Walton Beach, Fl — After more than two years of careful planning and design by teams that included physicians, nurses, patients, architects and construction specialists, Fort Walton Beach Medical Center announced today the approval of over $32 million of expansion and renovations, scheduled to start first quarter of 2016.
The expansion and renovations will include:
- A 9,500 square foot expansion of the current Fort Walton Beach Medical Center’s ER. This comprehensive expansion includes the addition of 11 new exam rooms, a new 64-slice CT, a roof-top helicopter pad, a brand new Pediatric ER and the movement of Express ER into the main ER footprint. The existing exam rooms and support areas will be renovated to flow into the new construction. This comprehensive expansion is projected to be completed by the end of 2017 or early 2018.
- A much needed three-story parking garage for employees, physicians, patients and visitors will be constructed at the same time the ER is being expanded. The new parking garage will consist of 420 parking spaces.
- A new 9,300 square foot ER in Destin on 1.2 acres of land located at Hwy 98 and Tequesta Drive. The new full-service ER will include eight emergency exam rooms, CT, X-ray and an on-site laboratory. The new ER in Destin is expected to be complete by end of 2016. (cost approx. $10mil)
