The Emergency Department at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. It consists of 22 treatment rooms/bays and a dedicated ER Radiology Room. Our department is staffed by physicians, nurses and healthcare professionals specifically trained to deliver emergency medical services at a moment's notice. The Emergency Department at FWBMC assesses and treats all ages, from neonatal to geriatric patients. With the emphasis on timely assessment and treatment, our department staff are skilled in the specific age-related needs of these diverse populations in this clinical setting. Every effort is made to include the patient's family or significant others in treatment, education, and discharge planning needs. All age groups served are at risk for abuse and neglect, so staff are prepared to identify the different signs and symptoms unique to the various ages. The Emergency Department at FWBMC has developed mechanisms for triage, treatment, and stabilization as defined in department policies and procedures.

Our Emergency Department also includes an Express ER for minor injuries and illnesses. In addition, we have a Pediatric ER that is dedicated to treating the emergency health care needs of infants, children and adolescents.

As an Advanced Primary Stroke Center, Level II Adult Cardiovascular Center and a licensed Psychiatric Treatment Center, the Emergency Department offers the most comprehensive inventory of services in the tri-county area.
